Abhinav Bindra’s solitary gold medal at Beijing has ended an Olympic gold-medal drought for India. He is the only Indian to win an individual gold—the last time India brought home a gold was for field hockey in 1980, before Bindra was born.

Nothing is going to happen in India. After Rathore's silver in Athens, the Army declared a project called something like Project 2008 where it hoped to produce at least a handful of medal prospects. The result? Rathore failed to qualify for the finals of the double trap. All talk, no substance.
