Russia and China vetoed proposed sanctions on Zimbabwe on Friday, rejecting US efforts to step up punitive measures after the African nation’s disputed presidential election.

No one can ever expect China to approve sanctions on Mugabe and his cabal. China has too much interest in Zimbabwe’s platinum reserves, and it’s Mugabe that will let China in completely.

Like the League of Nations before it, the United Nations is a complete disaster. It has been hopeless in the Balkans, many of the African conflicts and a host of other places.
As the desperate families in Myanmar (Burma) continue to die like flies let’s face the fact that the United Nations is just a continuing expensive ”talk-fest”.
When it can sit back and watch genocide it truly has failed miserably!

This shows the pathetic state of affairs of the United Nations when it comes to attempting something good for a country, which here in this case was to remove a despot who is brutalising his own countrymen.
It was expected that China and Russia would veto because China has huge business interests in Zimbabwe and though the same is not with Russia, it vetoed to show that it can veto 'Western' proposals.
